Restaurant websites, ordering apps and delivery platforms

Restaurant and Food Delivery UI/UX Design Services

Devoq Design designs digital products for restaurants, cafes, chains and food delivery platforms: websites that fill tables, ordering flows that guests finish, reservation and loyalty tools, kitchen and staff screens. Fast on a phone, accessible to WCAG 2.2 AA, and clear about allergens and payment.

Food and hospitality products that work at the table, the counter and the curb

Restaurant guests make decisions in seconds and often hungry. A couple standing outside at 7pm open the menu and get a slow PDF that needs pinching to read, so they walk to the place next door. An office worker ordering lunch for a team is asked to create an account before seeing prices and gives up at the password rules. A parent with a child who has a nut allergy searches a delivery app for an answer and finds none, so they order from a brand they already trust. Behind the counter, a line cook squints at a kitchen screen that must be read from two meters away in steam and noise, and a ticket gets missed. We design for guests and for staff, starting with how both actually behave during a lunch rush, using UX research on site rather than in a meeting room. Menus become real text with photos that load fast, ordering shows prices first and asks for an account last, allergen tags sit beside each dish with a route to speak to staff, and kitchen screens use type and color that survive a busy service. Whether you run one site, a franchise group, a ghost kitchen or a delivery marketplace, we deliver interfaces that move orders through quickly and keep guests coming back.

Features/Why Choose Us

Restaurant UI/UX design by Devoq Design covers the parts that decide whether a guest orders and returns:
Category structure, photography, modifiers and prices arranged so guests find a dish, customize it and add it to an order in a few taps. A good menu answers "what is it, what is in it, how much" in one glance; a bad one hides prices behind a tap, buries modifiers in a long list and loses the order before the basket.
Allergens, dietary tags and ingredient notes are placed where the choice is made, designed with the care that food safety deserves and reviewed by your own team. We add filters for common diets, a visible prompt to confirm serious allergies with staff, and a basket that repeats the allergen notes, so the data your kitchen supplies is seen by a hungry guest.
Checkout flows that use compliant providers, support PCI DSS 4.0.1 expectations and show tips, fees and totals before the guest commits. Wallet payments come first, card entry is the fallback, and the screen for a declined card keeps the order intact, since a guest who has to rebuild a family order will often not bother.
The National Restaurant Association reports 26% of operators use AI tools; we design voice ordering, recommendations and forecasting with clear fallbacks to staff. Each AI step gets a confirmation the guest can read, a correction that costs one tap and a handoff to a person, so a misheard drive-thru order is caught at the window rather than at the table.

Approach Section

Our Approach to Restaurant UI/UX Services

Discovery and Research

01

Time with guests, front-of-house and kitchen staff, plus review of your order data, reviews and third-party platform fees. We sit through a service, watch where staff work around the current tools, and read the one-star reviews that name a specific screen.

Wireframes and Prototypes

02

Clickable flows for menu browsing, ordering, checkout, reservations and reorders, tested before any visual design. Prototypes use your real menu, including the dish with twelve modifiers and the item that sells out at 8pm, so the layout is proven against the hard cases.

UI Design

03

A visual system led by food photography, with accessible color and type, large tap targets and states for every component. Kitchen and staff screens get their own type scale and color rules for distance, glare and steam, while guest screens carry the brand without slowing the page.

Usability Testing

04

Guests order a meal, change an item and pay while we watch, with kitchen staff testing the screens they use during service. We test on phones in bright light and one-handed, and run staff screens during a quieter service before trusting them in a rush.

Handoff and Optimization

05

Developer-ready files and documentation, then improvements guided by conversion, basket size and repeat order data. If you already have a site or app, we often start with a UX audit so the first release fixes the steps where guests leave today.

Why Devoq Design?

We make the collaboration of people and interface more intensive and exciting.

Experienced Hospitality Designers

Websites, ordering flows and staff tools designed with service pressure and guest hunger in mind. We know the difference between a screen that works in a demo and one that works at 12:30 on a Friday.

Order-Completion Focus

Every step measured by whether a guest can finish an order without help or an account. We count taps from opening the menu to a paid order and agree completion and basket targets with you before the first screen is drawn.

Brand That Tastes Right

Visual identity, photography direction and tone that make the place feel like itself online. We brief your photographer on the crops each module needs, so the food looks right on a phone and the pages stay fast.

Built for Multi-Location

Location pages, menus and hours designed to scale from one site to many without breaking. Each location gets its own menu, hours and ordering link from one template, so a new opening is a content task rather than a design project.

Built to Integrate

Designs that account for POS, kitchen display, delivery partners, reservation and loyalty systems. We map what each system can send and receive before designing, so availability and order status mean the same thing on every screen.

AI Speed, Senior Review

AI drafts about 5x faster, with senior review of every screen. Our team uses AI for layout options, copy variants and research summaries, and a senior designer approves everything that goes live.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does restaurant UI/UX design include?
User research with guests and staff, journey mapping, wireframes and prototypes, visual design, design systems, accessibility checks to WCAG 2.2 AA and developer handoff for restaurant websites, ordering apps, delivery platforms, reservation tools and kitchen screens. Each engagement is scoped as a defined set of flows and screens, and you choose whether we cover the website, the app, the staff tools or all three.
Can you reduce our dependence on third-party delivery apps?
We design direct ordering experiences, loyalty and reorder flows that give guests a reason to order from you rather than through a marketplace: saved favorites, one-tap reorder, honest delivery times and rewards that are simple to understand. Results depend on your pricing, delivery operations and marketing, which we cannot promise, but we can make the direct route faster and clearer than the alternative.
Can you redesign our existing restaurant website or ordering app?
Yes. We start with a UX audit and a look at order and traffic data, then redesign the steps where guests abandon, usually menu browsing, checkout and reservations, while keeping your POS and ordering provider. Templates that already work stay as they are, so the change ships in stages and the kitchen never has to learn a whole new system at once.
How is AI used in restaurant products?
Examples include voice ordering at the drive-thru, personalized recommendations and demand forecasting for the kitchen. Each is designed with a confirmation step the guest can read, a clear handoff to staff and a way to correct mistakes in one tap. We recommend starting with one use case, measuring it against order accuracy and speed, and only then adding more.
How do you design for allergens and dietary needs?
We make allergens and dietary tags visible at the point of choice and in the basket, add filters for common diets, and include a prompt to speak to staff for serious allergies. The data itself must come from your kitchen and be kept current by your team, and we design the editing screens so that is quick to do. We do not offer medical or legal advice.
How much does restaurant UI/UX design cost?
It depends on the number of locations, screens, user types and integrations, and whether research and testing are included. After a short discovery call we scope a fixed price for a defined product, such as a website or an ordering app, or a monthly retainer for groups that keep adding locations, menus and features. Every part of the scope is itemized.
How long does a restaurant design project take?
Timeline depends on how many guest and staff roles we design for, the number of screens and locations, how many systems the product integrates with, and whether research and usability testing are part of the scope. A menu and checkout redesign on an existing ordering provider is much quicker than a new app with kitchen and driver tools. We agree milestones at the start.
Who owns the designs and the assets?
You do. Figma files, photography direction, research notes and documentation sit in your own accounts and the contract assigns the intellectual property to you. Your developers, your ordering provider or any future agency can build on the files without asking us, and the design system is documented so new locations and menus can be added by your own team.
